Bow rehair is the most basic repair needed by string players whether they are a student, amateur or professional. My work is guaranteed and I’ll have your bow ready in a timely fashion.
I offer only the finest white hair (as well as naturally colored hair) available for violin, viola, cello and bass bows.
Or for something unique, try custom colored hair which is the same highest quality as the white. Customers can order any color or combination they like or choose from my current stock.
After examination I offer advisement -especially in regard to student bows- and will inform you whether it is suitable to rehair. Many bows can be renewed from decline and be usable again.
The old hair is removed, parts are cleaned and lubricated, and any necessary repairs are provided.
At this time the traditional French polish is applied. This provides the necessary protection for the wood.
This is an offered service should the customer desire it.
Do you know the function of the leather on your bow? It protects the winding and stick from damage from use. I offer two textures in black leather in addition to colored leathers which are a great way to enjoy discreet color on the bow!
If it’s peeling off or worn into, then replace it. It’s an inexpensive way to protect your bow.
Wood blocks are carved to fit each individual bow tip and frog. Then the hair is carefully measured, knotted and properly fitted in the tip and frog.
After the hair is secure -from tip to frog – all parts are reassemble and a wedge is carved to hold an equal spread of the hair.
After I apply my special final touches the bow is ready to be rosined and ready to perform.
